A Simple Chaotic Neuron
نویسنده
چکیده
The discrete dynamics of a dissipative nonlinear model neuron with self-interaction is discussed. For units with self-excitatory connection hysteresis effects, i.e. bistability over certain parameter domains, are observed. Numerical simulations demonstrate that self-inhibitory units with non-zero decay rates exhibit complex dynamics including period doubling routes to chaos. These units may be used as basic elements for networks with higherorder information processing capabilities. ∗appeared in: Physica D, 104, 205 211, 1997.

Dynamic Logic Circuit with Chaotic Transition Using Switched-Capacitor Chaotic Neuron Circuits
Complex responses, including chaotic responses, were observed through physiological experiments with biological neurons. To include these complex responses, the chaotic neuron model was proposed. Chaotic dynamical systems have been applied to logical systems, and to information and signal processing systems. In this paper, we propose a dynamic logic element with a chaotic transition region usin...
متن کاملConsistency in a Chaotic Spiking Oscillator
This letter studies response of a chaotic spiking oscillator to chaotic spike-train inputs. The circuit can exhibits a variety of synchronous/asynchronous phenomena and we show an interesting phenomenon “consistency”: the circuit can exhibit random response that is identical in steady steady state for various initial values. Presenting a simple test circuit, the consistency is confirmed experim...
متن کاملA simple chaotic neuron model: stochastic behavior of neural networks.
We have briefly reviewed the occurrence of the post-synaptic potentials between neurons, the relationship between EEG and neuron dynamics, as well as methods of signal analysis. We propose a simple stochastic model representing electrical activity of neuronal systems. The model is constructed using the Monte Carlo simulation technique. The results yielded EEG-like signals with their phase portr...
متن کاملTheory for Characterization of Hippocampal Long-Term Potentiation Induced by Time-Structured Stimuli
We theoretically investigate long-term potentiation (LTP) in the hippocampus using a simple model of a neuron stimulated by three different time-structured input signals (regular, Markov, and chaotic). The synaptic efficacy change is described taking into account both N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) and non-NMDA receptors. The experimental results are successfully explained by our neuron model, and...
متن کاملStrange Nonchaotic Bursting in A Quasiperiodially-Forced Hindmarsh-Rose Neuron
We study the transition from a silent state to a bursting state by varying the dc stimulus in the Hindmarsh-Rose neuron under quasiperiodic stimulation. For this quasiperiodically forced case, a new type of strange nonchaotic (SN) bursting state is found to occur between the silent state and the chaotic bursting state. This is in contrast to the periodically forced case where the silent state t...
متن کاملM ay 2 00 4 Stabilizing near - nonhyperbolic chaotic systems and its potential applications in neuroscience
Based on the invariance principle of differential equations a simple, systematic, and rigorous feedback scheme with the variable feedback strength is proposed to stabilize nonlinearly any chaotic systems without any prior analytical knowledge of the systems. Especially the method may be used to control near-nonhyperbolic chaotic systems, which although arising naturally from models in astrophys...
